Training nursing students in global health while there are attending nursing programs needs to be a part of the national and international health efforts in NCD control. This goal can be changed by investing in the largest health taskforce, the nurses. Investment does not have to be monetary, but can be based on volunteer effort, as demonstrated in the Supercourse. The content is going to be geared toward the NCD prevention, as NCDs represent leading causes of death in both developing and developed world. The emphasis is on health promotion: lectures on teaching about healthy lifestyles (smoking cessation, physical activity, and nutrition) and prevention of chronic disease. Another major focus is empowerment of people with NCD. Nursing practice must be expanded at all settings by having them work with their clients on effective self-management of their chronic health conditions. http://www.pitt.edu/~super1/Nursing/nursingsupercourse.htm
