A new technology - radio satellite transmission of data - that can be received in remote areas without telephone or internet access seems to be a promising effort to provide up-to-date medical information to hitherto underserved areas in Africa. WorldSpace   has launched two radio satellites (AfriStar and AsiaStar) that provide up to 40 news (BBC, CNN) and music channels in nearly CD-quality.
