In long-term care facilities, or nursing home, people tend to be frailer than those living in the community. Physical rehabilitation programs e.g. walking exercise, physical therapy were beneficial to increase strength, or balance. Assessment of environments and modification were associated with reduction of incidences of fall when they are combined with other interventions. Physical restraints often used in nursing home setting. However restraints can cause loss of self-confidence, limitation of freedom of movement leading to serious fall-related injuries.
