In the past decade, epidemics were reported only in 4 countries from the region – Bosnia and Herzegovina (viral hepatitis A in 2000 with 400 affected people),  Serbia (tularemia in 2001/2002 with 170 affected people) and Albania and Macedonia were affected in July i.e. November, 2002 with epidemics with unknown origin,  with about 200 affected people in each country.
