What is Rush?

Rush is just another term for the recruitment process for Fraternities and Sororities. At Pitt there is a formal 1 week period known as Rush week. During this time you can check out our events and meet the brotherhood to see if this organization is right for you. We believe that there is a fraternity for virtually everyone so we invite any interested males to our events free of charge.

If the Rush Committee feels you will fit in well with our fraternity, a representative will issue you a BID card.  With this card you can either complete it and begin your journey joining the Kappa Sigma Fraternity as a pledge or choose not to join.

What is Pledging?

Pledging at Kappa Sigma is very goal oriented and structured.  From your standpoint, it is a 60 day trial to learn the meaning and duties of being a brother and seeing if you want to accept this responsibility.  The Fraternity uses this time period to instill good study habits, teach you how to run the various positions to keep the fraternity running, and develop a strong brotherhood between you and all members for the rest of your college years and beyond.  Remember that Kappa Sigma does NOT haze and will not subject you to mental or physical activities against your own free will. Also keep in mind that you can decide to end your pledge at anytime.

***Brothers will be directing to events from Towers Lobby at least 5 minutes prior to meeting time***
