    • stochastic demand models (HW 6)
    • risk pooling and inventory centralization (HW 7);
    • dependent demand models including MPS, RCCP, MRP and CRP;  (HW8 and HW9)
    • transportation/distribution decisions in supply chains
    • sourcing decisions in supply chains
  • As always, you are not responsible for any material in the text that I did not cover in class, and conversely you are responsible for everything covered in class even if it is not in the textbook.  Please feel free to talk with me if you have questions.  Here is a brief review sheet that might help as you study for the test.
  • I've enjoyed having you all in class and teaching this course.  Good luck on all your exams, and I wish you all a wonderful Christmas/Holiday season and a very happy new year!

  1. I have posted Assignment 8 (due a week form today) as well as solutions to Assignment 7.  Be sure to check out the underlying cell formulas and the logic behind the calculations.
  2. Please hand your Exam 1 back to me ASAP if you have not done so yet - I am still missing several of them.
  3. For Assignment 2 (gas forecasting) my actual usage was 5.2 mcf.  If your one-step-ahead forecast was close let me know - the three closest forecasts get 10 bonus points!

  1. I will post Assignment 7 on risk pooling and inventory aggregation within a day or two; this will be due in class a week from Tuesday (on November 16) , so you have a little more time.  However, this is likely to take you a little more time than usual, so please start early as possible.  You may work on this in pairs and hand in one report per team.
  2. I have also posted solutions to HW 6.
  3. If you have not yet done so, please hand back your exam to me once you are done looking at it.
  4. Finally, class is canceled on Tuesday, Nov. 8 since I will be out of town at a conference.  We will meet again next Thursday as usual.

  1. Here are solutions to Exam 1. Please be sure to download and print this file out so that you can compare the answers with your own when I hand back your tests.
  2. I have posted Assignment 6 on stochastic demand models; this will be due in class a week from Thursday (on November 4).
Date: October 26, 2010

I have posted solutions to Assignment 5.

Date: October 14, 2010
  • I have posted Assignment 5 as well as solutions to Assignment 4.
  • Exam 1 is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21.
  • The exam will be a closed book / closed notes exam but I will allow you a hand-written crib sheet - one side of one 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of paper - on which you can put down whatever you want, and which you will hand in with the test.  The test will cover what we have seen until and including today's lecture - basically, supply chain fundamentals, forecasting, aggregate production planning, and deterministic inventory models.  You are not responsible for any material in the text that I did not cover in class, but conversely you are responsible for everything covered in class even if it is not in the textbook.  Please feel free to talk with me if you have questions about the test.  Here is a brief review sheet / study guide summarizing some of the important concepts learned thus far - you might find this useful as you study for the test.  Please keep in mind though, that that this is NOT a substitute for your own crib sheets and that you should make these up as you study for the test.
Date: October 07, 2010
  • I have posted Assignment 4 (due Oct 14). Please start early on this.

Date: September 30, 2010

There were a few minor typos on HW2 that I have fixed - the numbers are all fine; I had mistyped electricity in place of gas in a couple of places!

HW 1 can be downloaded from the Homework Assignments page; this will be due a week from today on September 16.

Date: August 31, 2010
  • I will update this page any time I have an announcement that I would like to make, or when I have a document for you to download off the web - typically, these will be homework assignments and their solutions which can be obtained from the Homework Assignments page.
  • All documents will be made available as Adobe Acrobat files (with a .pdf extension).  In some instances, documents might also be posted as MS-Excel files (when there are spreadsheets). In order to download a document to your machine, simply click on the filename hot link. You may then print the document, save it or do whatever else you wish with it.
  • As na example, here's a document that contains the course outline and description: course.pdf.
  • I have collated copies of most of the overheads that I use for this class and put them together into a set of notes for the class which are required for this course. These have been transcribed into .pdf files and are available in the Course Materials section of this web site from where they can be directly downloaded and printed (Note: this page is password-protected).
  • Bring the notes with you to class EVERY session. That way, you can take down any notes directly on the copies that you have and listen to the lecture (rather than trying to copy into your notebook everything that you see on an overhead...).
