We conducted a cross-sectional study of child asthma in the Australian Capital Territory in 1999-2000 to examine the contribution of atopy to various indicators of asthma frequency and severity. The proportion of children with atopy, hay fever or eczema increased with increasing wheeze frequency over the past year.
