Biology and the Justification of Ethics
Gabriele De Anna, U. of Udine, Italy
12:05 pm, 817R Cathedral of Learning

Abstract: Evolutionary ethics has recently offered promising explanations of ethical behavior and ethical systems, but we are still far from understanding what a biologically based justification of ethics would look like. I will attempt to develop a justificatory framework for ethics founded on an account of human agency, into which the data of biological sciences could fit.
