     The Center for Philosophy of Science, University of Pittsburgh, announces two      new postdoctoral fellowships for the academic year 2009-2010. Each fellowship      includes a $40,000 stipend with benefits. Eligible candidates must be within 5      years of the awarding of their doctorates at the time of commencement in      September 2009 and must have their doctorate awarded by April 15, 2009.

The Center for Philosophy of Science will hold a workshop, Philosophy of Gauge Theory, 18-19 April 2009. 

We have limited support for qualified graduate students in a philosophy or philosophy of science program wishing to attend. We offer reimbursement of up to $250 against receipts for travel-related expenses. Qualified graduate students are advanced in their graduate programs and working on a dissertation directly related to the workshop.

    Nicholas Rescher elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, 20 April     2009. We join the philosophy of science community in congratulating Nicholas     Rescher, co-Chair of the Center for Philosophy of Science, on this honor.
