PITT NIGHT 2007
PITT ARTS sponsors a number of special PITT NIGHTS. For a great price, Pitt students, faculty, and staff can get transportation to the performances, enjoy a dessert reception, and meet the artistic directors and performers. These events are splashy, fun, and big! People celebrate their Pitt pride and their love for the arts by participating. More than 100 students, faculty, and staff attend each event. Those wishing to participate can buy tickets through the Cheap Seats program.

October 19, Pittsburgh Opera, Madama Butterfly
A clash of cultures that unfolds on the intimate stage of the heart, a fragile geisha blinded by love marries a dashing American officer who then abandons her. Three years later, he returns with his “real” American wife only to take Butterfly’s son away. This shimmering production—it literally floats on water—comes to the U.S. for the first time from the Sydney Opera House.

January 26, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Amadeus
One of the triumphant successes of modern theater, Amadeus brings the dazzling legend and music of Mozart to thrilling life. Part biography, part murder mystery, this five-time Tony Award-winner pits the envious composer, Salieri, against the young genius, Mozart, in a fight to the finish with 18th-century Austria as the dramatic backdrop. Be there as the Public Theater unleashes this full-out, lavish production staged by Ted Pappas.
