Snuff Out Cigarettes with the Great American Smokeout

On Thursday, Nov. 19, crumple up those cigarette packs and unplug that vape to celebrate the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. The event provides an opportunity for smokers to start their journey toward quitting smoking and leading a smoke-free life with a reminder to start with just one day.

Pitt employees who are current smokers interested in quitting can take advantage of the University’s Comprehensive Medication Management program, available to all full- and part-time regular faculty and staff with UPMC Health Plan coverage. It provides no-cost smoking cessation guidance and resources. The benefit also provides the opportunity to meet with a pharmacist to receive counseling on smoking cessation and develop an action plan to help take better control of one’s health.
