Pitt alumni will return to campus and reconnect with their alma mater during the Pitt Homecoming celebration, Oct. 6-9, 2022.

But homecoming is for students and the larger Pittsburgh community, too. Festivities kick off today and continue through the weekend. Here’s what you need to know to make your homecoming magical and memorable.

Where do I get a homecoming T-shirt?

Join the Pitt Alumni Association (PAA), Blue & Gold Society and Pitt Alumni Student Network as they kick off homecoming on the William Pitt Plaza. Stop by from 2-4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 to pick up your homecoming tee (while supplies last).

What’s happening this week?

A lot! Ahead of the big game on Saturday, you can show your Pitt pride while making friends and scoring swag.

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, participate in the Pitt Traditions Scavenger Hunt, and win prizes from stickers and hammocks to a top-secret prize. All Pitt students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend.

Other events include the Traditions Paint Night, Roc Talks and a Homecoming Celebration.

Find a list of events here. Students should register for events here.

P.S. PAA’s full schedule of events for alumni begins Thursday, Oct. 6. Register for alumni events here.

Who is in the running for the Spirit of Pitt Award?

PAA put a new spin on a cherished custom in 2021 by shifting the homecoming court to the Spirit of Pitt Award. It’s a gender-neutral academic award for two students chosen from a group of 10 juniors and seniors who are committed to academic excellence, community service and PAA's values.

From Oct. 4-5, undergraduate students can cast a vote for this year’s Spirit of Pitt Award winners.

Will there be fireworks?

Did you even have to ask? Head to the Cathedral of Learning (or is it Cathy?), where the Pitt Program Council will host its annual Fireworks and Laser Show at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7.

What do I need to know about the football game?

This year, the Pitt Panthers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

You can cheer from the stands at Acrisure Stadium, or watch it from home.
