As the fall term approaches, here are six things folks who will be on campus should keep in mind. Watch Pittwire in the coming weeks for more tips on dining, commuting and ways to get involved.

1. Pitt Arrival begins at the Pittsburgh campus on Thursday, Aug. 19…

…and ends on Thursday, Aug. 26. Students can learn more about Pitt Arrival on a new website. Staff reporting to campus should be prepared for increased traffic during that week and consider working remotely if their flexible work arrangement allows.

2. Campus buildings remain closed to the public

Pitt ID cards are required for entry — have your ready for easy access at swipe points. Panther Central recommends that you confirm your ID is not expired before arriving. If you have trouble with your Pitt ID, visit Panther Central online or in person. University members may have guests on campus once they complete a guest registration form. Registered guests must present a confirmation email and a photo ID once on campus. This does not include guests of University housing residents, who should check in their guests through the residence hall security desk. Employees should have broad access to campus spaces they can ordinarily enter.

3. Guidance could change

The University continues to closely monitor campus and community data and follow guidelines from federal, state and local health authorities to keep campus as healthy and safe as possible. For the latest, visit coronavirus.pitt.edu and keep an eye on your pitt.edu email.

4. Buildings are cleaned regularly

The Office of Facilities Management continues to deep clean and disinfect buildings and inspect them daily. Faculty, staff and students should also keep cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects within their spaces before and after use. Additionally, every HVAC system on campus has been assessed to meet indoor air quality guidelines, and areas without proper HVAC should have operable windows. Areas without suitable HVAC or operable windows have been secured from use.

5. Classes begin Friday, Aug. 27

Classes will be held in person this term — don’t forget your face covering! Masks are required for all students, faculty and staff, no matter your vaccination status.

6. Coming soon: good eats

Dining locations across campus will gradually reopen, beginning in earnest on Thursday, Aug. 19. Learn more on the Pitt Eats website.
