Register for the In Our Own Write creative workshop for LGBTQ elders

A pride march with a rainbow flag flying

The Center for Creativity is restarting "In Our Own Write: Creative Writing for LGBTQ Elders."

The no-cost, virtual workshop will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30-9 p.m. between Feb. 16 and May 9.

Erik Schuckers, writer and manager of programming for the center, will lead participants through the forum, which aims to provide a platform to explore feelings and experiences through reading, guided writing prompts and discussion workshops. The group will also engage in discussion surrounding their original poetry and short nonfiction and contemporary pieces of literature.

The workshop will culminate with a collective reading and a limited-edition chapbook to be distributed to all participants and archived in the University of Pittsburgh Library System.

The workshop welcomes those with little or no previous writing experience and will provide the opportunity to virtually meet with publishing writers.

Registration is required before Feb. 16, and more details can be found through the Center for Creativity.
