The Asian Studies Center, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan), will present a virtual lecture by Kerry Brown, professor of Chinese studies and director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College London, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 13.

Brown will speak on his book “The Trouble with Taiwan: History, the United States and a Rising China,” co-authored by Kalley Wu Tzu Hui. The Journal of Asian Studies describes the book as a “compelling and stimulating analysis with regard to Taiwan’s enduring endeavor to search for identity,” and the American Library Association notes that it “helps readers understand the island’s extraordinary status in the complicated web of international relations.”
