My research interests focus on user modeling, user seeking behavior and evaluation of information retrieval.
Research Experience
Collaborative Project: User-centric,
Adaptive and Collaborative Information Filtering
Funded by NSF 2007-2009, Partner: CMU CLAIR group
· Work with our CMU partner, the objective of this project is to
develop new technologies for Adaptive Filtering (AF).
Investigate group users' information seeking behavior in context (e.g. online community; e-discovery).
9/2005-7/2007:
Bejing University – Research Assistant
Investigation on User’s Information-searching Behavior in the
Networked Environment: Project supported by Research Foundation
of Baidu (the largest Chinese search engine) Cooperation.
· Analyzed and summarized the information-searching behavior of
Chinese people in the networked environment based on a large
scale survey.
· Redesigned the interface of search engines based on the result
of user testing.
9/2004-6/2005:
Nanjing University – Research Assistant
Establishment and Determination of Evaluation Index System of
Networked Information Resources: Project supported by
National Social Science Foundation of China. (04BTQ023)
· Brought forward the concept of information architecture in the
evaluation of networked information resource.

· Researched on data mining.
3/2004-7/2004: Nanjing
University – Principle Investigator
Realization of Qualitative & Quantitive Evaluation on Search
engines: Project supported by Nanjing University SRT fellowship.
· Measured the performance of searching on four famous search
engines both quantitatively and qualitatively.
· Introduced the concepts “the relevancy category” and “first X
precision” and their formula acquired; Set up a retrieval
evaluation measure system for Chinese search engines.
