Hobbies and Interests
Me again. So most people have hobbies or interests. I however have both hobbies AND interests. I know,
I'm pretty amazing.
- Sleep
- Eat
- Play video games
- Crew (thats rowing, and I'm missing it because of this page)
- Play sports
- Hang out with my friends
- Annoy the holy living hell out of people
- Listen to music
- Freedom
- I love the fact that I finally have almost complete control over my life (the man is still keeping me down). In high school,
the teachers always told you when to go to class, what to do, what you could say (oh, they said they encouraged free-speech, but
I got censored on more than one occasion) and how to behave. Here at Pitt, I can make my own decisions. If I don't feel like doing
homework, I don't and no one cares. I can skip class if I'm too tired and the 5-0 won't come hunt me down. I can write things in
papers that would've gotten me in trouble back home (even some of the stuff on this page would've been deemed "too edgy," so that
just shows how much Kennett sucks.
- Da City
- Kennett is a small town. Its name literally means "one square mile." Thats why I wanted to be in the city. Pittsburgh is alive with all
sorts of activity. There's so many shops, restuarants (think I spelled it wrong, just roll with it), and movie theaters, its almost overwhelming.
Back home I was always bored because of the utter lack of anything to do. We were the Mushroom Capitol of the World, so our biggest event was the
annual Mushroonm Festival. That's right, a two day fair celebrating fungus. Needless to say, the boredom was more mind numbing than morphine,
assuming you inject it directly into the brain. But here, there are so many things to see and do, that I'm still trying to figure everything out.
I love the excitement of the big city. I even saw my first police chase the other day!
- Food
- This includes campus food as well. At home, I usually wouldn't eat three meals a day because the food was never available to me. I had nothing
in my house. Here, there's always a wide variety of food and plenty of it. I can eat at Mark Cent and the Perch for my big meals, and the plethora
of coffee shops allows me to grab a snack or a quick breakfast when I don't have time to grab a real one. And if I gett tired of campus food, there
are plenty of restuarants on Forbes and 5th for me to choose from.
- Sleep
- That's right, I said it. Most people would expect that sleep is the last thing people get in college, but hear me out. In high school, I usually
got to bed around midnight during the week and I had to get up at 6:30 the next morning for school. Here, I get to bed around 12:30-1:00am, but i
usually get to sleep til 9:00. So I actually get to sleep more here than I did at home. And that's good, because what with crew and later classes,
I need to get all the rest I can. Plus, I like sleeping.
- Class Schedule
- I love the class schedule in college. So much so that I would marry it were it socially acceptable. But it would probably be a loveless marriage
seeing as how my class schedule is not a physical being, so its probably for the best. I like the fact that I can sleep later than in high school and
still be done my classes before or around the time they ended in high school. Interesting tidbit: my wrist is killing me even as I type this, and I
fear it may be the beginning of carpal tunnel, so I'm going to keep and eye on that. I also apprecitate (spelling once again butchered) the fact that
the classes are more spaced out. Instead of a solid 7 hour block, its only 4-5 hours spread out a little so that I have time for homework and more
sleep.
