Mission

The Laboratory of Molecular Pathology (LMP) is under the direction of Dr. Yong Li, a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and other appointments in Pathology and Bio-engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. The LMP is an individual/ independent research laboratory within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is affiliated with the Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. This LMP is involved with in developing novel techniques for molecular, cellular and small animal based research and focuses on two major areas of investigation:

1) the exploring the properties of dedifferentiation from terminally differentiated cells into adult stem cells, iPS induction and

2) studying the processes involved with fibrous scar formation in the injured and diseased tissues of the neuromuscular system.

The laboratory is also interested in translational study and clinical application for the musculoskeletal congenital diseases and for the trauma injuried tissues.
