  • 		This is file  www.pitt.edu/~wpilib/statfaq2.html,
                dating mainly from June, 1997.  It is organized
		into 'chapters', described below.

                There is a major POINTER to the newer files,
                March 1998, which is in format that is parallel to
                the Chapters below;  it is new information in a
                larger number of files, for faster reading and
                (I hope) easier maintenance.


                There are a number of files of 10-20K each
                which have several FAQs on particular subjects.
                Here is a slight warning - these do reflect the
                questions that have been asked and answered, and
                which I felt comfortable in reproducing (i.e.,
                not outside of my understanding), rather than a
                top-down, structured approach topics.  For
                difficult or lengthy queries, the answer is apt
                to be a reference rather than text-book explication.
