Hello, my name is William Garrard and I am a sixth-year doctoral student in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.

I am from the Pittsburgh area and have lived here most of my life. Previous to coming to Pitt, I worked with IBM in Arlington, Virginia in the area of configuration management in the public sector. I earned my M.S. from Renssealer Polytechnic Institute's Department of Information Technology, and my B.S. from Penn State University's College of Information Sciences and Technology.

My advisor is Dr. Michael Spring. I explore research ideas in the field of human computer interaction (HCI), including web usability for individuals with cognitive disabilities. I believe that I am a solid software engineer, and am often employed to build or maintain software for various research projects.
