publishing
Many of the publications listed on our reading and Pittsburgh writing community pages will provide good leads for you if you are looking to be published. You are also welcome to stop by the Writing Center and consult our copies of the Directory of Little Magazines or the Writer's Market (please bring your i.d and plan to consult the book in the Writing Center). Here are some other opportunities:
The Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette is one of the few U.S. metropolitan newspapers
to publish and pay for poems regularly. Each Saturday, a poem
is published in the paper's editorial section. To submit poems,
send to Sarah Billingsley, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
34 Boulevard of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15222; for guidelines
or information, email to Sarahbillingsley@post-gazette.com.
Call
for undergraduate students to submit their poetry, fiction,
creative nonfiction, drama, mixed genres, and black &
white photography to the
NORTH CENTRAL REVIEW.
The next deadline is OCTOBER 15.
Submissions can be sent (with an SASE and .edu e-mail address
or
photocopy of student ID w/o number) by snail mail to
NC Review, North Central College, CM
#235, 30 N. Brainard Street, Naperville, IL 60540.
But most of our submissions now arrive as Word attachments
to NCCREVIEW(at)NOCTRL.EDU (replace (at) with @) as long as
they are sent
from a .edu address to document student status. However one
submits,
the author must include name, postal address, and e-mail address
on the
submitted work itself.
