The
meeting was called to order at 2:37
p.m.
MINUTES/ANNOUNCEMENTS
No
changes were requested to the minutes of the September 27, 2001
meeting.
- Subcommittees have been
formed in response to the Provost's charge. Time will be allotted during
URC meetings for these subcommittees to meet.
- Council was asked to
contribute topics for the Brainstorming subcommittee to address.
REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH -- MICHAEL CROUCH
Crouch
was not present at the meeting. He was attending a meeting of the Council on
Governmental Relations.
NEW BUSINESS
Beckman
relayed his experience in hosting research lunches in the School of Engineering and
suggested that maybe something similar could be done on an institutional level.
Ness mentioned that faculty members might be interested
in a University van traveling to Washington, D.C.
Klinzing will contact Vince Johns regarding this.
The
meeting adjourned at 3:05
p.m.
The
remainder of the scheduled meeting time was devoted to subcommittee meetings.
