Rosy Dreams
Clip soundrack song lyrics (Romani language)
| O poštaris avel, | The postman in coming, | |
| telegramos anel. | he's bringing a telegram. | |
| Sar me les genava, genava, | When I read, read it, | |
| o bala čhingerá, čhingerá. | I'll tear, tear my hair. | |
| Dža, more, dža, more, dža, more, | Go, man, go, man, go, man, | |
| na kamav tut! | I don't want you! |
Čhingerá is contracted from čhingerava; dža means literally "run" (here: "get lost!"). In the usual reading of the song, "I don't want you" implies "not any more" – the narrative voice is readily understood as addressing her lover who sent the telegram rather than the postman. (A different version of the Romani folk song speaks of a telegram that announces someone's death.)
The singer on the soundtrack is Kvetoslava Halušková, the guitarist is her husband Ján Turták, then from the Romani band Terne čhave (Young Guys). |
