Student Organizations

To be recognized by the University, a student organization must have an advisor selected from university faculty-staff membership and a constitution approved by the Student Government Association.  Once approved the club/organization may apply for funding through the Student Budget Committee (SBC).  Currently the following are recognized student organizations at UPT:


Student Government Association Provides a forum for student input into decisions affecting student life.  Located in SU203B the SGA monitors expenditures of student activities fees.

Student Activities Board The SAB is the primary programming organization at UPT and book entertainment, host entertainers, and publicize events.  SAB is a member of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA).  The office is located in SU203B.

Accounting and Business Club Established to encourage interest in the areas of economics and the business profession and related activities.

Alpha Omega Campus Fellowship A student group under the guidance of community ministries, this club provides activities and fellowship opportunities to foster spiritual growth.

Art/Photography Club Promotes activities/events related to the arts.  The department has its own darkroom facilities, equipment, and materials for film development (SU213).

BACCHUS (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students)  A national organization committed to promoting alcohol education and responsible drinking among college students.

Cheerleaders The mission of this team of students is to encourage the athletic teams at UPT.

Commuter Student Association Assists the commuter students in academic pursuits and promotes participation in campus activities.

Engineering Society An organization for students majoring in engineering and interested in activities related to the profession.

Phi Theta Kappa A national honor society recognizing academic achievement among students in two-year colleges, it also promotes service and leadership by its members - who must maintain a 3.5 GPA.

Student Physical Therapy Association The SPTA promotes personal and professional growth while encouraging learning and involvement in healthcare.  Membership is available to all students registered in the PTA Program.

Theatre Club Promotes interest and participation in theatrical activities.

UPT Unshackled Newspaper Comprised of editors, writers, photographers, and reporters who publish a biweekly newspaper as a source of information for the UPT community.

UPT Weight Club Promotes physical fitness through weight training and body building.

Wilderness Club This club seeks to utilize the many outdoor resources available in the NW Pennsylvania area.  Activities in the past have included:  whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, repelling, skiing, horseback riding, and snowboarding.
