    CHEMISTRY MAGIC DEMONSTRATION

If  for  any  reason you  missed  the "Chemistry Magic"
demonstrations  put  on  by  the students in Dr. Furlan's
classes  last Saturday,  you  really   missed  education at
its best.  I was glad to see  all the students from campus
and  children  with  parents  from   the   community  who
were   obviously  enjoying  the  presentations.  If  I  had
been  sitting in the such an audience a  number of years
ago,  I know I would have decided right there to become
a  chemist!    I   did  go  out  to buy  some  grocery  store
ingredients to construct my  own  "Milky way"  because
I  missed  that  hands-on  demonstration,  and  hope the
chemicals  necessary to  produce  my  own  "silver orna-
ment" are  readily  available.   Again,  many thanks to all
who made  "National Chemistry Week" come to life here
at  UPT!         (Cindy Andes   ...   currently  an  Assistant
Professor of Humanities and English, with aspirations of
    an amateur chemist!)
