UPG Launches New Athletics Web Site
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Athletic Department and the UPG Computer Center have joined together to create a new UPG Athletics Website. The new Web Site will now be the place to get all the most recent updates about your favorite Bobcat Teams.

Menhorn Reaches 1,000 Point Mark in Lady Bobcat Victory
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team won their fourth straight game, as they defeated Penn State Altoona 73-54 tonight in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The win moves UPG to 9-6 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
In the process, junior guard Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) became the fourth women's basketball player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point mark.
The Bobcats jumped out to an 11-2 lead early and never trailed as they overwhelmed the Lions with an efficient offensive effort. UPG shot 46% from the field and 50% from behind the arc as they constanly presented problems for the Altoona defense.
Menhorn, who entered the game needing 15 points to reach the 1,000-point mark, scored 16 points in the first half, en route to a game-high 21 points. She reached the milestone by connecting on a free throw with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. She also posted a team-best nine rebounds in the contest. Menhorn became the first women's player to reach the milestone in her junior season.
Three other Bobcats were in double figures led by Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) who netted 11 points and seven rebounds. Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch) and Julie Ehrman (Butler, PA/Butler) each chipped in with 10 points. Reiser also added eight rebounds and five assists.
The Lions were paced by Erin McGowan with nine points and Shanise Thornton with eight.
UPG will be back in action on Saturday, January 20, when they travel to face Lake Erie College. Tip-of is set for 2:00 PM.
Men's Basketball Falls to Penn State Altoona
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team saw four players post double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell at home to Penn State Altoona 88-76 tonight. The loss was the fourth straight for UPG, which fell to 2-14 overall and 2-7 in the AMCC. Altoona improved to 4-11 overall and 3-6 in conference action.
The Bobcats controlled the entire first half, leading by as many as 10 points. They went to the half with a 39-36 lead. The second half was an entire different story, as the Lions shot 70% from the field and scored 52 points to bust the game wide open.
Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) led UPG with 18 points and seven assists, and Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) posted 15 points. Tim Gustin (Shinglehouse, PA/Oswayo Valley) and Ed Montgomery (Homestead, PA/Steel Valley) chipped in with 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Lions were paced by Tyler Franklin, who notched a game-high 23 points. Colin Geiger added 20 points and Quinton Dziabo chipped in with 19.
UPG will travel to face conference front-runner Lake Erie College on Saturday, January 20. Game-time is set for 4:00 PM.

Men's Basketball Team Loses Heartbreaker
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team fell to host La Roche College in heartbreaking fashion, falling to the Redhawks 87-86 in double-overtime. The loss moves the Bobcats to 2-13 overall and 2-6 in AMCC action.
The two teams were tied at 65 apiece through forty minutes of regulation, and were again tied at 74 after the first five minute overtime period. The Redhawks finished the game by outscoring UPG 13-12 in the final five minute period.
UPG was led by Tim Gustin (Shinglehouse, PA/Oswayo Valley) who came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. Gustin shot 9 of 12 from the floor en route to his big night offensively. Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) posted 21 points for the Bobcats and Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) chipped in with 14 points.
The Redhawks were led by Zach Kostorick with 20 points and seven rebounds. Stacy Grady chipped in with 18 points and six rebounds.
UPG will play host to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday, January 17. Game time is set for 8:00 PM.
Women's Basketball Team Captures Third Straight Victory
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team won their third consecutive game by defeating host La Roche College 62-54 today. The win moves UPG to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
The Bobcats opened the game on a 16-4 run, and held off a pesky Redhawk team the rest of the first half to lead 30-19 at the half. UPG then stretched the lead to as much as 16 points in the second half, before La Roche made a late run to cut the lead to single digits.
Four Bobcats reached double figures, led by Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) who posted a game-high 15 points and added a team-best nine rebounds. Julie Ehrman (Butler, PA/Butler) chipped in 14 points and four assists, while Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) added 13 points and five steals. Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch) added 10 points for UPG.
La Roche was led by Tina Ball and Shauna Browning who posted 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Bobcats will face off with Penn State Altoona on Wednesday, January 17, in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The game is set to start at 6:00 PM.

Second-Half Surge Leads to Lady Bobcat Victory
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team used a big second half to earn a conference victory over Pitt-Bradford tonight. The Bobcats outscored Bradford 36-20 in the second half to close with a 63-50 victory. UPG is now 7-6 overall and 5-2 in the AMCC. Pitt-Bradford fell to 5-7 overall and 4-3 in conference action.
The Panthers jumped out to a 30-27 halftime lead led by Katie Moore's 11 points. The Bobcats, however, held the Panthers scoreless for nearly the fist eight minutes of the second half as they opened up a quick double-digit lead.
Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch) knocked down 5 of 6 three-point field goals en route to a game-high 19 points. Freshman forward Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) netted 18 points, grabbed a team-best seven rebounds, and added a team-high four steals. Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) and Julie Ehrman (Butler, PA/Butler) both chipped in with 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers.
The Bobcats opened the second-half with a full-court press that forced 15 Panther turnovers in the second half. Amanda Sheaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) and Brittney Radic (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) came off the bench to spark the defensive effort as the two players hassled the Panthers in the full-court and combined for five steals.
Bradford was led by Taiasha Brown who posted 16 points and 11 rebounds. Katie Moore chipped in with 13 points and five steals.
The Bobcats are back in action on Monday, January 15, when they travel to La Roche College for a 4:00 PM game.
Bobcats Fall to Conference Rival Pitt-Bradford
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team dropped their second consecutive game, as they fell to host Pitt-Bradford 85-69 tonight. UPG falls to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in AMCC play, while Pitt-Bradford improves to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in league play.
The Panthers controlled most of the first half and entered the intermission with a 34-27 victory. The Bobcats roared back in the second half, however, and tied the game around the ten minute mark. But, the Panthers came through down the stretch and used some hot shooting to pull away for the victory.
The Bobcats were led by Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) who posted a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) netted 14 points as the only other Bobcat in double-digits.
The Panthers were led by Mark Austin who contributed game-highs with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Shawn Spindler added 13 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
UPG will be back in action Monday, January 15, when they travel to La Roche College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.

Women's Basketball Picks Up Conference Victory
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team battled a pesky Hilbert College team and came out on top 62-51 tonight in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The win improves UPG to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Hilbert falls to 1-11 and 1-5.
UPG trailed much of the first half before closing with a 9-2 run to lead 30-2 at the half. In the second frame, the Bobcats opened up a quick double-digit lead, and then hung on and despite several Hawk rallies.
Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch) led the Bobcats with a game-high 18 points and five assists. Resier shot 9 of 14 from the field and also added four steals defensively. Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) added 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a solid all-around effort, and Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Amanda McHale led Hilbert with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Lucy Zver added 12 points and seven boards.
UPG will be back in action this Saturday, January 13, when they travel to face AMCC rival Pitt-Bradford. The game is set for a 4:00 PM start.
Men's Basketball Drops Home Game
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team got off to a slow start, and were unable to shake visiting Hilbert College tonight. The Hawks won the game 88-74 to improve to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the AMCC. The Bobcats fell to 2-11 overall and 2-4 in the AMCC.
The Hawks jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the early going, but watched as the Bobcats cut into the lead and trailed by just four at the half. The two teams traded the lead several times in the second frame before Hilbert was able to pull away in the final three minutes.
Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) knocked down 8 of 9 from the field to lead the Bobcats with 19 points. He also posted eight rebounds. Men's Basketball Team Picks Up Big Conference Win
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team broke a four-game losing streak by defeating conference rival Medaille College 74-71 tonight in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The win improves UPG to 2-10 overall and 2-3 in the AMCC, while Medaille fell to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
The Bobcats opened up an eight-point halftime lead and held on in the second half as the Mavericks made several rally attempts.
Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) paced UPG with 24 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) and Chris Streett (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) added 15 and 13 points respectively, while Ed Montgomery (Homestead, PA/Steel Valley) and Tim Gustin (Shinglehouse, PA/Oswayo Valley) both chipped in with 10 points.
James McNeil led the Mavericks with 15 points while Bill Gersitz netted 11 points.
UPG will host Hilbert College on Wednesday, January 10, in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The game is set for a 8:00 PM start.
Women's Basketball Falls Just Short Against Nationally Ranked Medaille College
For the second time in three games, the Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team faced a nationally ranked opponent, and today they nearly pulled the upset. The Lady Bobcats fell to the nation's #22 ranked team 64-57 in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. The loss moves UPG to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the AMCC, while Medaille improved to 5-0 in conference and 9-3 overall.
The Bobcats battled through a tough first half and went to intermission down by eight points. Medaille opened up a 15-point lead with eight minutes remaining and then saw the Bobcats claw back and cut the lead to just four points with one minute left. The Bobcats had a chance to cut the lead to one-point with thirty seconds remaining, but a Julie Ehrman (Butler, PA/Butler) three-point attempt rimmed out and Medaille rebounded and held on for the win.
Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) paced UPG with 20 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Ehrman added 11 points, including three baskets from behind the arc, and Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) chipped in with eight points and a career-best 13 rebounds.
Amanda Baker led Medaille with 17 points and Tiffany Collins came off the bench to net 12 points. Carissa Ferrucci and Marissa Clark both chipped in with 10 points.

Lady Bobcats Open New Year With Big Victory
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team opened 2007 with a 67-61 victory over Washington and Jefferson College tonight in Washington, PA. The win moves UPG back to .500 with a 5-5 record.
The Bobcats and Presidents battled through a closely played first half with neither team able to pull away from the other. W & J entered the half with a 29-27 lead. The second half saw the Bobcats surge ahead with some hot outside shooting and opportunistic defense. UPG opened a 13 point lead with 10 minutes remaining and withstood the President's late rally to win by six.
Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) returned from injury to score a team-high 16 points. She also added six rebounds and four assists. Kelsey Wilcox (Dubois, PA/Dubois) added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Julie Ehrman (Butler, PA/Butler) and Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch) each chipped in with 10 points apiece.
The Presidents were led by Emily Hays's nine points and Maggie Gibson grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

Bobcats Drop Two Games in Texas
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team dropped two games during a trip to Georgetown, Texas. The Bobcats lost to Trinity University 82-71 in the opening game on December 29, and followed with a 76-34 loss to Southwestern University in game two this evening. With the two losses, UPG falls to 1-10 on the season.
In game one against Trinity, the Bobcats received a career-high 30 points from Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) and Zach Liu (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional) chipped in with 14 points. Tim Gustin (Shinglehouse, PA/Oswayo Valley) contributed eight points and 11 rebounds.
In game two, the Bobcats shot just 17% from the field as they scored a season low 34 points. Southwestern, however, shot 50% from the field. The only Bobcat to net double figures was Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) with 14 points.
UPG will next be in action on January 6, when they host conference rival Medaille College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM in Chambers Hall Gymnasium.

Men's Basketball Falls on the Road to Westminster
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball Team traveled to Westminster College and were defeated 99-95 in a shoot out tonight. The Bobcats fall to 1-8 on the season while Westminster improved to 5-4.
Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) paced UPG with 17 points while Chris Streett (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) added 15 points. Tim Gustin (Shinglehouse, PA/Oswayo Valley) and Ed Montgomery (Homestead, PA/Steel Valley) each chipped in with 14 points.
UPG will be off until December 29, when they travel to Georgetown, TX to compete against Trinity University (TX). They will then play Southwestern University (TX) on December 30.
Women's Basketball Falls to Nation's #3 Team
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball team faced the #3 ranked team in the nation in Baldwin Wallace College tonight, and were defeated 76-25. The Bobcats are now 4-5 on the season while the Yellow Jackets improved to 8-1.
Baldwin Wallace used their size and athleticism to completely shut down the UPG offense, and they continually scored by pushing the ball in transition.
Amanda Sheaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) paced UPG with six points and five rebounds off the bench, and Lindsay Littler (Coraopolis, PA/West Allegheny) added five points.
UPG is now off for the Holiday season and will not play again until January 3, when they travel to Washington and Jefferson College. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.

Men's Basketball Team Falls on the Road
The Pitt-Greensburg Men's Basketball team was defeated by Penn State Behrend 73-61 tonight at Behrend. The loss drops UPG to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Bobcats trailed by just three points at the break, but saw Behrend pull away in the second half, several times building leads of double-digit margins.
UPG was led by Rashad Davison (Washington, PA/Washington) with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Matt Rowland (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) chipped in with 12 points.
Behrend was led by reigning AMCC 'Player of the Year' Kevin Buczynski who had 22 points and nine rebounds. David Gahan added 15 points and 11 boards.
UPG will be off for over a week before traveling to Westminster College on December 19, for an 8:00 PM game.
Lady Bobcats Drop First Conference Game
The Pitt-Greensburg Women's Basketball Team was defeated for the first time in conference play as they fell to host Penn State Behrend 72-63. UPG fell to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
The two teams battled through a tight contest all night, with the lead hovering between three and six points. Behrend pulled away late with some clutch free throw shooting.
