HALL INFO

The Academic Villages are designed to enrich and extend intellectual, social and experiential learning at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for both residential students and commuters alike.

There are four distinct Academic Villages within the complex.  Each is located within specific houses, which are listed below:

ACADEMIC VILLAGE                                                          HOUSE

Behavioral Sciences Academic Village                                      Franklin & Mead Houses

Humanities Academic Village                                                    Athena House

International Academic Village                                                  Apollo House

Natural Sciences & New Technologies Academic Village          Marshall & Selene Houses

All of the Academic Villages share the use of Village Hall, where commuters and residents alike can meet and participate in various activities.  The Coffeehouse - a place where students, faculty and staff can comfortably interact while enjoying a variety of flavored coffees, desserts and other items - is also located within Village Hall.

The Academic Villages are intended to build a sense of belonging for all students.  Residents will forge new friendships as they participate in the Academic Village programs.  Field trips, performances, lectures and exhibits are planned for students’ enjoyment.  The objectives of the program are to engage students fully, to enhance their experiences in creative ways and to strengthen their college education.  The Academic Villages welcome commuters and residents to join and participate in this unique community of scholars.  This program is available to all - freshmen through seniors.

If you wish to live in an Academic Village, you will be required to complete a separate Academic Village Membership Application.  Because these residents are held to higher standards, the expectations, both academically and personally, are greater.

If you have general questions regarding the Academic Village program, please contact Sheila Confer at 724-836-9905 or via email at SEC10@pitt.edu.  If you need to contact the Director of an Academic Village, their information has been listed at the bottom of this page.
