CORREPONDENCE, 1964-1995.  1 FF

Principally copies of outgoing letters encompassing personal and professional activities.  Subjects include the following in re: UPG: advising program, Lynch estate (1964), Education Placement Office, sabbatical leaves, permanent motto of Ridilla Field (10/30/89), fund raising, proposed campus film series (Kenneth Clark Civilization Series, J. Bronowski Ascent of Man Series), establishing of Humanities Day by Dr. Colette Levin (12/12/82), proposed naming of Smith Hall, UPG annual series of poetry readings.  Also contains reference to NNM’s poetry, their publication in anthologies and periodicals, poetry readings.  Includes letters of recommendation in support of colleagues and students, letters in re: NNM’s dissertation  principally with Dr. Richard Tobias his dissertation advisor and letters from former students in re: NNM’s influence on them.  Letter of March 12, 1965 to President Lyndon Johnson in re: the “Great Society” vis-a-vis the issue of voting rights in Alabama.  Letter of May 11, 1966 to Prof. Lawrence Lee comments on Poetry Magazine; ltr 10/27/99 Rex Downie, Jr. to NNM in which RD, Jr. discusses his writing over a ten year period.

McWhinney scholarship in English Literature at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg funded by a pledged annual donation from Dr. Christopher Luccy (UPG 1967-68) of $2,000 ($1,000 to a senior and $1,000 to a junior UPG student); the announcement includes criteria of eligibility for junior and senior competitions; letters of nomination for the 2006 Luccy scholarships with supporting documentation; memorandum nomination for the 2006 Luccy scholarships with supporting documentation; memorandum dtd 12/8/06 from Dr. Frank A. Cassell to Dr. Richard Blevins and Dr. Norman McWhinney thanking them for informing him of the winning of the 2006 Luccy scholarships by Jamie Matthews and Amy Duli.

Dtd 10/29/98 from FAC to K.C. Constantine and Dr. Norman McWhinney in which FAC recapitulates his understanding of various agreements made at a 10/28/98 meeting. Items discussed: date, script, roles, budget, income from audience, book signing, publishing of the play, compensation for Mr. Constantine, timetable, title [of the play], contract.
