Six English Literature and Writing Students Present Papers at Undergraduate English Conferences, 2007-2008 School Year
Four of our students presented at the 2008 Sigma Tau Delta International Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, March 5-8, 2008:
-- Kelly Scarff (English Writing), "Travel: Transportation, Observation, Realization" (collection of poems)
-- Ashly Stillwagon (English Literature), "To Sum Up: A Year in My Life," (collection of poems)
-- Jamie Mathews (English Literature), "The Realities Overcoming the Ideals of 'American Freedom'" (research paper on Lemuel Haynes and revolution-era U.S. literature)
-- Melanie Matthews (English Literature), "United Together" (research paper on colonial American Literature: on gender roles in Hopi legends)
Two students presented papers at regional conferences:
Amy Duli (English Literature) presented her paper on film adaptations of Jane Austen's novels at MUSE: An Undergraduate Literature Conference, sponsored by Illinois Wesleyan University's Alpha Eta Pi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, in Bloomington, Illinois on October 6, 2007.
Michelle Sarver (English Literature) presented her paper on Charlotte Brontë's Villette at "Echoes of Transformation," an English discipline conference hosted by the Lambda Nu chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at Kutztown University held on April 4, 2008.
