The Men's Tennis team, coached by first year coach, Marcus Kahn, is in their 3rd year of competition.  The Bobcats compete at the NCAA Division III level and are also members of the AMCC and the ECAC.  Our opponents include AMCC teams: Lake Erie, La Roche, Frostburg State, Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Altoona and Penn State Behrend.  We also play many of the best NCAA Division III teams in Southwestern PA.  While the Men's Tennis program is still young, we are excited about the direction it is taking and the accomplishments thus far.

Season Outlook

The Men’s Tennis Team enters their second season with high expectations.  A number of freshman join the team this season and although the team will be very young it is more talented than last season.  Coach Radday will lean on the letterwinners from last year.  Jon Germock and Puneet Mehrotra will be the team leaders and both played for Coach Radday on the Men’s Basketball Team and have established a strong relationship. The other returnee joining them is Senior Tom Janicki.  The three upperclassmen have strong intercollegiate experience but how well the team will do will depend upon how quickly the freshman develop.  Twins from Mount Pleasant High School, Chris and Bryan Gesinski, maybe the most talented players and will play at the top of the order this season.  Also making an immediate impact will be Jason Pishney from Greensburg-Salem High School and Mike Heise from St. Clairesville High School (OH).  Rounding out the team are a couple of soccer/tennis players, Kris Richardson (Riverside HS) and Chris Lukow (Allen HS) and Ryan Manzer from Mars High School.  Coach Radday notes, “I expect that we will have some tough matches this season, and at times will be overmatched.  However, we do have a good blend of upperclassmen and younger players and expect to make progress this season and in the years to come.”

Coach Profile

MARCUS KAHN:  Coach Kahn begins his first season as Head Coach of the Men’s Tennis Team.  Kahn, a Hanford, CA native, is the third head coach in the three-year history of men’s tennis at Pitt-Greensburg.  Last season, Coach Kahn coached at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV where he served as the top assistant for men’s basketball at the NCAA Division II school for one season.  Before coaching at Shepherd, Kahn spent time as an assistant at a pair of NCAA Division III schools, one season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Albright College, in Reading, PA and the two seasons before that as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Wesley College in Dover, DE.  Kahn broke into coaching at Grand View College, a NAIA Division II school in Des Moines, IA, spending one season as assistant men’s basketball coach before moving on to Wesley.  Kahn was a member of the basketball and water polo teams while at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.  Kahn also holds a masters degree in education from Wesley College.  Kahn feels that Pitt-Greensburg is the right fit for him to begin his career as a head coach.  “Pitt-Greensburg is part of a great educational system, and is located on an extremely beautiful campus. Combine that with a developing men’s tennis program, and it was an easy choice to come here.”  Kahn is also the Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team and is a full-time employee within the Athletic Department at Pitt-Greensburg.
