The Children's Literature Collection was founded in memory of Joan Chambers, the late wife of George Chambers, President Emeritus of the UPG campus. Dedicated on September 8 1995, this collection was founded to promote the study of children's literature. At its core are the Newbery and Caldecott award winning children's books. The collection, though still in its early stages of development, promises to be quite exceptional. Materials in this collection are cataloged on Pittcat Plus and can be circulated.

The library sponsors an annual Children's Literature Conference which is funded through this collection. Previous speakers have included Louis Sachar and Paul Zindel. Contact the director of the library for further information regarding the development of this collection or the annual conference.
