Campus Life

During the past six years, UPG has been building and/or renovating a number of facilities to enhance campus life.

Academic Villages

Three academic villages have been developed on the Greensburg Campus. The villages are a way to create smaller social units for students, to foster closer relations between faculty and students, and generally to increase the intellectual quality of the campus. Each village combines both residence and commuter students by academic major and/or interest area and is designed to reinforce curricular objectives and values through extracurricular programming. Each village has a faculty advisor, a designated residence facility and a commons building. Students interested in art, culture, music, theater, or any of the other areas of the humanities are involved in the Humanities Academic Village (HAV). Those interested in history, psychology, politics, or any of the other areas of the behavioral sciences are involved in the Behavioral Sciences Academic Village (BSAV). Students interested in the natural sciences attend activities for the Natural Sciences and New Technologies Village (NSNT). Village Hall is the commons building for both the HAV and BSAV and the Lyceum is the commons building for the NSNT.

In addition to the villages, a residence for students interested in international studies was also developed. The former residence of Mary Lynch Quinn (daughter of the original owner of the Lynch estate), Rossetti International House was dedicated on November 15, 1998 in memory of Dr. Guy Rossetti, former vice-president for administrative affairs.
