An addition to the Student Center was dedicated in November of 1985. At the ribbon cutting ceremony were Dr. Alex McKenna and Linda McKenna Boxx. The addition was made possible with a grant from the Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation and with the support of the Pitt-Greensburg Alumni in Westmoreland county

A brand new 22,000 sq. ft. residence hall was built on the Pitt-Greensburg campus in 1989. It was dedicated to the memories of John A. and Emma Robertshaw and their family. Robertshaw was one of the original members of the UPG Advisory Board.
Pitt-Greensburg President, Dr. George Chambers, announced a $19 million dollar capital fund-raising campaign called Building The Future in December of 1987. The following April, ground-breaking for a new 40,000 sq. ft. student center took place. The new student center opened in August 1989. It housed the dining room, snack bar, and lounge area, a gymnasium, squash and racketball courts, running track, weight room, student affairs office, a health center, and the campus book store. The student center was renamed Chambers Hall in 1997 in honor of Dr. George Chambers
