Updates
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Bobcats kicked off the regular season at home on Nov. 19 with a strong first-half against Point Park College, taking a 27-22 lead into the locker room at halftime. But unfortunately for the Bobcats, it all came undone in the second half resulting in a 63-55 UPG defeat.
Sophomore Torey Auld (Seneca Valley H.S.) handed out a game-high four assists in the contest to become UPG’s all-time career assists leader with 120. She also scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds before fouling out. Auld was honorable mention for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Sophomore guard Annie Sral (Bishop Guilfoyle H.S.) scored 14 points and grabbed seven boards to lead the Bobcats while junior forward Erin Arnold (Kiski Area H.S.) put in 13 points and collected six caroms. Sophomore guard Jordan Fox (Hempfield Area H.S.) also chipped in with eight points.
The Bobcats shot a solid 47-percent from the floor in the first half but converted on just 38-percent of their second-half-field-goal attempts, good for 42-percent. UPG connected on just 17 of 29 free-throws in the loss and shot just 14-percent from three-point land.
The Bobcats host non-conference opponent Bethany on Nov. 27 and non-AMCC foe Grove City on Dec. 1.
The UPG Bobcats played hard against California University of Pennsylvania on Nov. 20 but it wasn’t enough as they suffered a 100-52 road loss.
The Bobcats, who trailed the whole game, shot just 27-percent from the floor in the contest and had just one player score in double figures; freshman Ryan Moye (Washington H.S.) scored a game-high 16 points and collected four offensive rebounds. Moye earned honorable mention for AMCC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Freshman Phillip Grenda (Mt. Pleasant H.S.) scored eight points and hauled down seven rebounds for the Bobcats while freshman Nate Watkins (Schenley H.S.) scored six points and picked off four steals in the loss.
The Bobcats travel to Waynesburg (Waynesburg, Pa.) for a non-AMCC showdown on Nov. 28 before returning to Greensburg to face Thiel in another non-conference matchup.
