Bobcats lose in first round

A late goal by Penn State-Behrend knocked the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Bobcats out of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament on Nov. 2.  The Bobcats attempted 17 shots on goal but only freshman Steve Green (Riverview H.S.) found the net in the 2-1 loss.  The Bobcats failed to capitalize on two more second-half scoring chances.

Freshmen Dave Tintera (Penn Trafford H.S.) and Brendan Walk received all-conference honors while juniors Brandon Migitsch (Penn Trafford H.S.) and Bill McIntosh (South Park H.S.), sophomore Mike Tintera (Penn Trafford H.S.) and freshman Steve Green made the All-conference second team.

The Bobcats went into the AMCC tournament as the second seed in the four-team tournament.  For UPG, the loss culminated a 7-10 season in which the Bobcats went 5-1 in AMCC play.  The 2001 season gives the Bobcats a solid foundation for 2002; UPG will lose just one player to graduation in Salvatore Molitierno (Greensburg Central Catholic H.S.).
