Golf Update
Bobcats claim AMCC title

Led by senior Ken Saksa’s (Uniontown, H.S.) 75, the Bobcats claimed their third straight AMCC title after their victory in the  AMCC Championship at Hannastown on Tuesday, October 3.  Saksa’s 75 was the best individual score of the championships.

Saksa also earned AMCC Golf Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.  Saska earned AMCC all-conference honors.  Joining Saksa on the AMCC all-conference golf team are sophomore Len Mohan (Latrobe H.S.), sophomore Brian Rosatti (Greensburg H.S.), and sophomore Sean Sapotichne (Greensburg Salem H.S.).

Women’s Soccer
Lady Bobcats still searching for first victory

The Lady Bobcats traveled to Washington & Jefferson College on Monday, October 2 looking for their first victory of the season.  However, victory wasn’t meant to be as the Lady Bobcats dropped the game 5-0.

The Lady Bobcats are currently 0-8 overall and 0-9 in conference play.  The Lady Bobcats travel to Laroche on Saturday, October 14.


Men’s Soccer
Team gets back on track

Following a game skid, the Bobcats got back on track with a 4-2 victory over Waynesburg on Thursday, October 5.  Sophomore Brandon Migitsch (Penn Trafford H.S.) netted the game winning goal for the Bobcats.

On Saturday, October 7 the Bobcats were scheduled to host Mt. Aloysius in a home match.  Because Aloysius did not have enough players to field a team, the Bobcats played Penn State-McKeesport in an exhibition.  The Bobcats easily disposed of Penn State-McKeesport 6-1.

The Bobcats are 4-5-2 overall with a conference record of 1-2.

The Bobcats travel to Washington and Jefferson College on Tuesday, October 10 and to Laroche on Saturday, October 14.  Finally on Monday, October 16, the Bobcats travel to Grove City for a non-conference game.


Women’s Tennis
Lady Bobcats go winless

The Lady Bobcats suffered a difficult week, dropping both of their matches against Penn State-Behrend on October 1 and October 7, respectively.

The Lady Bobcats were unable to win a match a set in either match and dropped both 9-0.  The Lady Bobcats are currently 0-9 overall with a 0-6 conference record.

The Lady Bobcats travel to AMCC rival Frostburg on Wednesday, October 11.  On Friday, October 13, the Lady Bobcats host Laroche before traveling to Penn State-Altoona on Sunday, October 15.


Women’s Volleyball
Bobcats go 1-1 for the week

Following a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Frostburg on Tuesday 3, the Lady Bobcats went in search of a victory and got one.  The Lady Bobcats defeated Lake Erie 3-1 on Friday, October 6 in a home match.

Against Frostburg, the Lady Bobcats received strong performances from several players.  Freshman Angelica Carr (Dubois Area H.S.) recorded 7 kills and an ace while freshman Holly Botti (Penn Trafford H.S.) added 6 kills, 16 digs, and an ace.  Freshman Jody Miller (Connellsville Area H.S.) added an ace.  Freshman Tricia Paffey (Yough H.S.) added 7 kills in the defeat while freshman teammate Karoline Sera (Trinity Christian H.S.) chipped in with 17 digs.

The strong efforts continued against Lake Erie.  The Lady Bobcats won the first two games of the set 15-6 and 15-5, respectively.  After dropping the third game 15-9, the Lady Bobcats recovered to win the fourth game 15-7 to pick up the conference victory.  Karoline Sera recorded 15 digs in the victory while Senior Casey Silvis (Greensburg Salem) added 14 digs.  Angelica Carr recorded 3 aces and 8 kills in the win.

The Lady Bobcats host Laroche on Thursday, October 12 and Penn-State Behrend on Saturday, October 14.  The Lady Bobcats are 2-12 on the season with a 2-3 record in AMCC play.
