Men’s Soccer Update
Bobcats Prepare to End Season
 
With the season drawing to a close, the Bobcats are preparing for the playoffs.  The Bobcats played only game last week as they hosted Allegheny College on Wednesday, Oct. 25.  The Bobcats came out flat and could not turn it on as the match continued.  The Gators looked strong and the Bobcats could not put the ball in the net.  The final was Allegheny 3 UPG 0.

The Bobcats will host Bethany on Tuesday, Oct. 31 to end the regular season.  On Friday, Nov. 3 the Bobcats travel to Frostburg to play in the AMCC tournament.  The Bobcats will play the no. 1 seed and host Frostburg in the first round playoff game.  The Bobcats are 8-8-1 overall this season with a 2-3 record in conference play.  If they win on Friday UPG will play the winner of the Penn State Behrend and LaRoche match.


Women’s Volleyball
Bobcats Tie School Record for Wins
 
The Bobcats played in three away matches last week, dropping two of the three.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24 the Bobcats were defeated on the road by Frostburg 3-0.  The Bobcats dropped the first game 15-6.  Freshman Angelica Carr (Dubois Area H.S.) recorded 2 kills in the loss while freshman teammate Tricia Paffey (Yough H.S.) added two aces.  The Bobcats faired little better in games two and three of the set, dropping them by scores of 15-3 and 15-2, respectively. Carr and Paffey each recorded two kills.  Freshmen Karoline Sera (Trinity Christian H.S.) and Holly Botti (Penn Trafford H.S.) contributed with three kills each.  In the third game, Botti again tallied three kills while Carr, Paffey, and Sera added two kills each.

The Bobcats’ fortunes turned around in their second match of the week as they tied the school record with 5 wins by defeated Lake Erie 3-1.  Botti had a strong performance with 19 kills and an ace in the four games.  Carr ended the night with eight kills and two aces.  Paffey also added five kills.

On Saturday, Oct. 28 the Bobcats looked to make it two in a row but lost to Penn State Behrend in four games.  Carr recorded 11 kills while Paffey and Botti each added seven kills.  Senior Beth Marr (Belle Vernon H.S.) added an ace in the loss.

For her performance last week, Holly Botti was named to the AMCC Volleyball Athlete of the Week Honor Roll.  For the week, Botti had 28 kills and 41 digs.

 The Bobcats travel to Seton Hill College on Tuesday, Oct. 31 to close the season.
