Bobcat Weekly
Updates
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Baseball team was in action just once last week, dropping a doubleheader to Bethany, 6-5 and 3-2 on Thursday.
In game one, the Bobcats’ offense was sparked by John Parknavy (McKeepsort H.S.) and Ryan Venezie (Linclon H.S.), who each had two hits and scored one run. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Jason Ramaley (Franklin Regional H.S.), Sean Kilpatrick (Greensburg Salem H.S.), and Andy Rosebosky (Mt.Pleasant H.S.).
On the mound, B.J. Hebenthal (Blairsville H.S.) pitched five and one-third innings, giving up nine hits and three earned runs. Hebenthal also recorded a strikeout and walked four batters. In relief, Doug Gallick (Mt. Pleasant H.S.) pitched one and one-third innings and took the loss for the Bobcats.
In game two, Ryan Darazio (Derry Area H.S.) pitched a complete game for UPG, surrendering three hits while striking out one batter.
Ramaley went 2-3 from the plate, while Kirk Loos (Ringgold H.S.) and Mike Matras (Frazier H.S.) accounted for the Bobcats’ run production.
The Bobcats are now 0-4 and have yet to compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. UPG opens AMCC play when they host Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Bobcats then host Thiel (Greenville, Pa.) in a non-conference game on Wednesday before closing their week at AMCC foe LaRoche (Pittsburgh, Pa.) on Saturday. All games begin at 1 p.m.
Loos and Parknavy each have five hits this season to lead UPG, with Parknavy also resting on three RBIs, another team high. Kilpatrick is batting .429 to pace Bobcat hitters.
On the hill, Darazio leads the team in ERA (3.86) and innings pitched (seven).
Both the men’s tennis and women’s softball squads were inactive last week. The women’s softball squad travels to Frostburg State on Thursday for a 3 p.m. game. On Saturday, UPG hosts LaRoche. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The men’s tennis team hosts Waynesburg in a non-AMCC match on Wednesday
at 2 p.m. The Bobcats then travel to Frostburg State on Thursday for an
AMCC match slated to start at 4 p.m. Closing their week, the Bobcats
travel to Thiel for a match scheduled for 1 p.m.
