Softball Update
Team Falls to Seton Hill College

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Bobcats were in action once last week, suffering a 9-1 defeat to Seton Hill College on Monday, March 18.

Sophomore Ashlie Burkholder (Cocalico H.S.) and freshman Devon Tokar (Hempfield Area H.S.) both pitched two innings.  Tokar took the loss, giving up six hits and seven runs, while walking two batters.

Sophomore first baseman Angelica Carr (Dubois H.S.) went 1-2 from the plate while freshman outfielder Traci Pullman (Dubois H.S.) also went 1-2 and scored the Bobcats’ lone run when she scored in the third inning.

For the season, sophomore Torey Auld leads the team in batting average at .600, with Carr just behind at .571.  Burkholder leads the team in hits with five.  On the hill, Pullman leads the team in Earned Run Average at 5.25 in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Now 0-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference with a 0-4 mark overall, the Bobcats host Washington & Jefferson College on Thursday, March 28.  The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.


Men’s Tennis
Team Falls to 1-5


The UPG Men’s Tennis squad suffered a 9-0 home loss to non-conference opponent Westminster on Thursday, March 21 despite the efforts of freshman Bryan Gesinski (Mt. Pleasant H.S.) who lost in #2 singles, 6-3 and 6-4.

Following the loss to Westminster, the Bobcats lost a narrow non-conference decision to Juniata by a 5-4 count at home on Saturday, March 23.

Gesinski was victorious in #3 singles by scores of 6-4, 5-7, and 7-5.  In #5 singles, freshman Jason Pishney (Greensburg-Salem H.S.) was victorious 6-0 and 6-4 while sophomore Puneet Mehrota (Hempfield Area H.S.) won 6-4 and 6-0 in #6 singles.

In their #3 doubles match, the team of freshman Kris Richardson (Riverside H.S.) and freshman Ryan Manzer (Mars H.S.) were victorious by an 8-6 score.  Manzer also won an exhibition singles match 6-1 and 6-2.

The Bobcats are now 1-5 overall (1-2 in the AMCC) and will travel to Penn State-Altoona for an AMCC contest on Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
