Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh's Early Social Development Lab!

Our studies all take place in our child-friendly playroom.

The room is clean, safe, and fun!

Our research is play-based, so your child will have the opportunity to play with different toys and games!

There are lots of interesting things to try.

So many fun games!

You stay with your child the whole time. While your toddler is playing, feel free to sit back and relax!

If an older sibling comes with you and your toddler, he/she will get settled in our waiting room and play with a qualified research assistant.

Sometimes we ask parents to help out during a study. Here, a mom reads one of our books with her toddler.

When your child is finished, we will give him/her a small toy to take home as a thank you.

The Early Social Development Lab is located in Sennott Square, a University of Pittsburgh building that houses the Psychology Department.

We are located at the corner of Forbes Ave & S. Bouquet street in Oakland. If you are driving down Forbes Ave, our building will be on your right. When you get to the light at intersection of Forbes and S. Bouquet, make a right turn onto Bouquet.

You will see the sign for our building in front of the main entrance on S. Bouquet. The parking lot is just behind the building.

At Sennott St. turn right and you will see the driveway for the parking lot where we have reserved a space for you. Don’t pull into the garage – we will meet you in the lot.

The reserved parking spaces are against the back of the building. Pull into any open space that says "Reserved."

The parking space reserved for your visit will be near this sign!

Be sure that you are in a reserved space, not a metered one! One of our research assistants will meet you at your car with a parking pass, and will escort you to the Early Social Development Lab playroom. We’re looking forward to playing with you and your toddler!
