Research Activities

Ultrafast carrier and phonon dynamics in GaAs:

Carriers and phonons are excited in GaAs by ultrashort laser pulses of the order of 10 fs and subsequent dynamics is observed by analysing the reflected probe signal in a pump probe set up. The excitation leads to the change in transient reflectivity which is observed by reflective electro optic sampling. Studying the signal in time and frequency domain allows us to understand the dynamics and different physical phenomena involved in them in first few picoseconds.

Research Activities

The research interest mainly focuses on the interaction between the organic molecule/metal (semiconductor) interface. With the help of two-photo-photo-emission (2PPE) and the scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), it is possible to detect the basic electronic structure of the ground-state molecules, the excited states and the decaying process of the excited molecules. The ultimate purpose for this study is to know some basic steps in chemical reaction, especially the energy conversion processes in photochemistry.

Research Activities

My research interests are based upon novel phenomena coming from nanostructures. Using PEEM(photo Emission Electron Microscopy) I observe the SPP resonance directly. My recent research is focused on finding both the best condition for surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) and the relationship between SPR and new structure parameters.
