Reasons why I love college:

I am learning what I want to learn
In high school, it was much more general education. The classes I had to take werent always my favorite. However, now that I'm in college, every class that I am taking, I WANT to be taking.
I am independent
Now that I am in college, five hours away from home, the only person who tells me what to do is me, and I love the freedom that comes with that. Also, the sense of fulfillment that I get when I accomplish things all on my own is great.
I am making great new friends
One of the best parts about college so far is the people I've met and befriended. I can already tell we're going to be friends for a long time. The guys on my wing of Florbes 6 are my best friends at Pitt.
I am getting hands on experience
Through a variety of clubs and classes, I am getting to play with some really cool toys. By that I mean that at Pitt there are so many labs and workshops with super cool machines in them. For example, the FSAE workshop and the free copy of Solidworks I got from them.
College is making me a better person
I am learning to overcome challenges the likes of which I haven't faced before. I am also meeting people of great diversity and am becoming accepting of many more things. College is making me a more open-minded person.
I am acquiring useful life skills
From learning to manage my time effectively, to getting machine shop certified and and learning to use heavy machines, to learning to 3d model solid objects and 3d print them, college is teaching me tons of skills that I will surely use later in life as an engineer.

Jobs I would like to do when I grow up

Things I have learned about college

  1. I thought college was going to be much harder than high school before I got here, and I was so right.
  2. I thought I'd have a lot of time to do things other than schoolwork in college, I was wrong about that.
  3. I also discovered that the most important thing about college, is keeping your sanity.
