This is my '84 GTI, The White Rabbit. I've touched up the original picture to see what it would look like w/o the GTI stripes, trim and rear turn signals (for the original picture click here). It was purchased in Williamsburg, VA in July of 2000 for only $650. It was in desperate need of a tune-up, some minor body work: a tree branch fell on the drivers side fender taking the antenna w/it hence the Fuba roof mount (to see the virtual repair, click here), new rotors, hubs and bearings up front, and other little things here and there.

Currently, it has well over 150,000 miles on it.  Modifications to it include a Neuspeed throttle body with ported intake, TT G-grind cam, drilled air box with K&N air filter, Techtonics down-pipe and soon-to-be Eurosport exhaust from my parts car, Boge shocks/struts and HOR springs (soon to be replaced by Bilstien shocks and H&R sport springs), Bosch Platinum +4 plugs, Techtonics motor mounts, Fuba roof mount antenna, new clutch, Sumitomo HTR 100s 185/60 on stock GTI 14" wheels, Scirocco 16v front lower stress bar, European bumpers and clear front turn signal lenses and smoked front bumper turn signal lenses(not seen in current pictures).

Repairs/Mods made since purchase include:

  1. removed the headliner
  2. repaired vacuum leaks in the vacuum lines
  3. replaced the rotors and pads
  4. replaced the back hatch w/white non-GTI (small rust hole in current GTI hatch)
  5. removed the rubber weatherstripping
  6. fiberglassed over the rear side marker lights and converted the rear tail lights to the early Rabbit/Cabby style
  7. removed the door panels
  8. removed trim from doors and fenders
  9. installed a used Neuspeed upper strut tower brace

Check out my Journal for an extensive history of work done to it.
