On average, teens in this study initiated smoking when they were 12 years old and began daily consumption 1 year later. Prior to the pregnancy, most teens reported smoking a ? of pack of cigarettes per day. During the pregnancy, they had decreased their consumption by baseline to less than a half of a pack per day.

59% of the teens reported they were most likely to smoke if they were angry.

52% reported smoking when they were nervous.

47% reported smoking when the were drinking alcohol.
