If we eliminate the factors of demand (age and sex), chance and the environment (where the medical staff is paid by salary and where all centres are organized in a similar way), we can hypothesize that these variations in medical practices affecting prescriptions of non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs may be due, in part, to a certain amount of ignorance or uncertainty concerning the advantages or disadvantages of one drug over another.
