MDT has significantly reduced prevalence rate but New case detection rate(incidence rate) has not shown any significant decline. The increase in the new cases in recent years is not due to increase in the incidence rate but mainly due to intensified case finding activities. Impact of MDT on disease transmission is still to be assessed carefully. However advanced infectious (multiple lesions) cases are seen less and less.
