Very flexible public health approaches have been designed even to suit most difficult countries with minimum resources could implement the program.

Leprosy Elimination Campaign (LEC) and Special Action Projects for Leprosy Elimination (SAPEL) are 2 important strategies to identify undetected cases using community volunteers (CV) and bring them under MDT to reduce infectivity pool (WHO,1994,1995).

Geographic and patient coverage (even in most difficult hilly areas) and treatment completion are important to reduce disease transmission in the long run and bring down true incidence rate.
