The evidence presented so far concerns the effectiveness of primary health care services. Is there evidence that primary care also reduces disparities in health across population subgroups?

Primary care might be expected to enhance equity of services (more equitable distribution across population subgroups) because it focuses on population health needs rather than on particular diseases and because its lower costs permit available resources to be spread wider in the population.
