Come from different backgrounds……Social Class, School
Are differently educated……University degrees versus Diplomas
Have different agendas……..R & D,Quality versus Productivity,Value for $
Are differently paid………….Salaries, fees versus Salary, bonus,share option
Have different job security…..Stable,secure versus Mobile,sackable
They rarely socialise…………Hobbies,holidays, homes
 
Doctors often patronise while Mangers resent their authoritarianism.
 
It is not surprising that there are often problems when they come together in the complex situation of expensive and potentially dangerous health care.
 
Doctors are more often now studying Management and taking an MBA and making the transition into management. Managers do not become doctors!
 
The two tribes need to celebrate their differences but to learn from each other and work together for a greater end.
