Harrell’s 1996 tutorial discusses multivariable prognostic models, including issues in developing models, evaluating assumptions and adequacy, and measuring and reducing errors.

Empirical evaluations of several logistic regression modeling strategies were reported (e.g. Steyerberg et al, 2000), focusing on selection of predictors and estimation of regression coefficients for predictive purposes. Techniques for internal validation (Steyerberg et al, 2001) and issues related to external validation have been described (Justice et al, 1999; Altman & Royston, 2000).
